A Homeware Object Series Inspired by Cypriot Traditional Craft
New Heritage is a series of branded products inspired by Cypriot traditional craft. Having put intensive research into Cypriot architecture, craft and objects of the 1960s, the New Heritage range is an exclusive and exciting collection of Cypriot originated home objects driven by FOUNDiiD’s design philosophy and embracing age old Cypriot craft skills and locally sourced materials. Each product carries a distinct aesthetic based on its origins and purpose, while the entire series is visually linked through simplicity of material and form.

Cutting Boards
Inspired by: Fournofkion (fournos; oven in Greek): A traditional Cypriot kitchen tool re-invented for daily use. The fournofkion, a long wooden pole with a round metal plate at its top end, was used for placing bread and other baked products in and out of the traditional yard oven.
The Design: a Family of 5-Size-Cutting Boards. Each board has a serialised identification letter starting from the largest to the smallest: M, B, S, F and O. Vegetable tanned leather straps on the handles are intended to give a natural and elegant  finish to the boards.
The Ceramic Platters
Inspired by: Tampoutsia, the inspiration behind this series of New Heritage products, was a large traditional Cypriot sieve, (although without holes), made of goat’s skin and which was used as a carrying tool from the warehouse to the main house building.
The Design: FOUNDiiD’s take on this traditional tool is a family of 5 consecutive-sized platters made of stoneware. Each platter has a thin parallel circular elevation on the outside and the inside of the plate, providing an understated elegance. They are suitable both for use as functional objects or as display homeware.
The Woven Cushions and Throw
Inspired by: the special folk art of Lefkaritiko- a handmade lace made at Lefkara village in Cyprus- these woven cushions and throws retain the original geometric and linear motifs of the traditional Lefkaritiko pattern as well as a neutral colour palette.
The Design: This range consists of a square and a rectangular cushions and a throw, all made from simple and versatile materials such as cotton, wool and acrylic. The textile design is a contemporary re-interpetation of the classic patterns of Lefkaritiko.
